I hope you had a Great Holiday and a Happy New Year! I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get a blog up. I have been moving, that’s why! So let’s discuss moving…!
You must prepare. It is the most important thing you can do! Let us get a plan.
1. Decide on a date.
2. Get a truck reservation or contact a mover. Make sure you get a confirmation number.
3. How many rooms are you moving? You need to know this for movers, or what size truck you need.
4. Are you moving a couch, or a couch sleeper, a master bedroom set, appliances, or other heavy furniture? You need to know this for movers or the truck you will get. You must have room and manpower to move these types of furniture. Plan…!
5. Do you have the boxes you need? Usually, even if you are hiring movers they want you to pack your belongings, unless you want to pay extra for them to do it. You need all the boxes to do the job. If you want you can go to liquor stores to find extra boxes, they always have alot, if you are moving yourself. Most companies like Ryder or U-Haul have boxes you can buy if you need to.
6. Get packing blankets to put around your furniture and pack your things tight. If you don’t know how to pack ask friends who know or look online. You want a tightly packed truck, it helps with driving and to protect your belongings. If you are moving appliances rent a dolly and strap.
7. Make sure you Plan, then plan some more, plan, plan, plan, if you do you will have a great move, if you don’t it will be a disaster. Look at details, and plan, add extra time for what you may have not seen. Cover yourself.
8. I love my new place, I have thrown out things I didn’t need, yet hung onto. It’s a new start and refreshing. I would’nt change a thing, yet it was alot of work, don’t fool yourself. It is worth the move. A new start in life…!
I have moved myself and friends don’t always show up, so make sure you have help. Moving seems to have a dark cloud over it, so no-one really wants to help you. Pay them well and maybe they’ll come.
